Does your trust have a general policy on the care of transgender patients or guidelines for supporting trans staff and patients? If so, please supply a copy
 
Answer To Question 1:
Please see attached guidance on our Intranet

We do not currently have a policy as such, although one is under development.

Does your trust have a specific policy on maternity/pregnancy for trans and non-binary patients? If so, please supply a copy
 
Answer To Question 2:
The trust does not have a specific policy on maternity/pregnancy for trans and non-binary patients.
 
Question Number 3:
Does your trust record patients’ biological sex, self-described gender identity or both?
 
Answer To Question 3:
Our Trust's PAS system currently has the facility to record biological sex but not self-described gender identity.
 
Question Number 4:
Does your trust follow Annex B of NHS same-sex accommodation guidance, which states that a trans patient can be placed in an opposite sex ward?
 
Answer To Question 4:
Yes - policy states "there are some situations which require careful consideration such as the care of people of transgender. In most situations people of transgender should be cared for in an area suitable for how they present to the hospital, although to maintain privacy and dignity people of transgender should be cared for in a side room with a designated toilet where possible".
