How do we involve the military charities?

SFT is proud to support our Armed Forces community. We recognise the unique challenges faced by you and your family members. Here at the Trust, we embrace the role of the Service Charities and work in close collaboration with many of them.

SFT's dedicated DMWS Welfare Officer

We are fortunate to have a full-time Welfare Officer from . DMWS is an independent charity providing free medical welfare to those who have, and continue to, operate on the frontline. We place trained professional welfare officers in locations throughout the UK to deliver much-needed additional support for those who are on the clinical pathway.

Whether it is a new or pre-existing issue, the service is for the Armed Forces community undergoing treatment for a health-related issue. With a focus on both physical and mental health, our welfare staff can be found in hospitals, veteran hubs, and community outreach programs throughout the UK. The Service aims to ensure no one goes through the worry of injury and illness alone.Ìý

DMWS will also provide ‘Unit assist’ function to Serving Welfare Departments as required. In line with our pledge to the Armed Forces community, our Welfare Officer will normally visit within 24 hours of receiving a referral, subject to availability.

Our DMWS Welfare Officer can be contacted directly by our staff, or you can contact him via the following methods:

Email: mlong@dmws.org.uk or matt.long@nhs.net
